How and why is the epistemic community of legal theorists unified\/divided? What are the lines of division that generate exclusion\/inclusion, centre\/periphery? And how has this changed over time?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those who consider themselves members of the community of legal theorists all have intuitions and anecdotes about these issues. Yet the topic also raises legitimate research questions: to assess them systematically requires both conceptual and empirical work, pursuing both qualitative and quantitative methods as well as interdisciplinary collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The insights that such research is expected to produce go beyond the descriptive sociology of a profession. Indeed, it may prove provocative and ferment developments towards more inclusivity in legal theory, or even \u201ca small first step towards de\u2010parochializing Western Jurisprudence\u201d (Twining and Sugarman 2020: 219).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The goal of this workshop is, however, more preliminary &#8220;brainstorming&#8221;: to explore the potential and the challenges of a collaborative research project about the culture and organisation of legal theory as an epistemic community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Participants<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Prof. Dr. Anne van Aaken<\/strong>, Universit\u00e4t Hamburg<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dr. Piotr Bystranowski<\/strong>, Jagellonian University Krak\u00f3w<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Prof. M\u00e1ty\u00e1s B\u00f3dig<\/strong>, University of Aberdeen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/hias-hamburg.de\/en\/fellow\/peter-cserne\/\"><strong>Dr. P\u00e9ter Cserne<\/strong><\/a>, University of Aberdeen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dr. Mateusz Grochowski, LL.M.
