{"id":5731,"date":"2023-05-12T13:49:00","date_gmt":"2023-05-12T11:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novamondo-dev.de\/hias\/?post_type=events&#038;p=5731"},"modified":"2026-07-08T15:34:57","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T13:34:57","slug":"workshop-normalized-consciousness-anthropology-phenomenology-and-critique","status":"publish","type":"events","link":"https:\/\/hias-hamburg.de\/en\/events\/workshop-normalized-consciousness-anthropology-phenomenology-and-critique\/","title":{"rendered":"Normalized Consciousness &#8211; Anthropology, Phenomenology, and Critique"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aim of this international workshop, organised by <a href=\"https:\/\/hias-hamburg.de\/en\/fellow\/thiemo-breyer\/\">Thiemo Breyer<\/a> and his cooperation partner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ethnologie.uni-hamburg.de\/en\/personen\/michael-schnegg.html\">Michael Schnegg<\/a>,&nbsp; is to address the unique potentials phenomenology has for reflecting social processes critically. For so doing, the general phenomenological proposition to explore how something appears as something <em>for<\/em> somebody, with the first-person perspective as a guiding principle, can serve as a starting point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For empirical subjects, this as-structure combines (1) their ways of experiencing the world and (2) the societal context which circumscribes what people live through, including the normative preconditions of acting in a public sphere. Both leave traces on <em>what<\/em> we experience as phenomenon.
