Die Herausforderungen der Altertumswissenschaften<\/em><\/a><em>&nbsp;<\/em>(Mohr-Siebeck 2022)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In recent years Classics has been the object of controversy: For some the discipline is complicit to racism, elitism, and other exclusionary practices; for others Classics is the source of our cultural (Western) identity that must be preserved.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this event, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni-heidelberg.de\/fakultaeten\/philosophie\/skph\/personen\/grethlein_2.html\">Jonas Grethlein<\/a>, Professor of Greek Language and Literature at the University of Heidelberg and recipient of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dfg.de\/de\/gefoerderte-projekte\/wissenschaftliche-preise\/leibniz-preis\/2024\/grethlein\">Leibniz Prize<\/a> of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) will discuss this phenomenon with HIAS fellows <a href=\"https:\/\/hias-hamburg.de\/en\/fellow\/john-hamilton\/\">John T.
