It is always considered good! But a closer look reveals a more nuanced picture: Individual behavioral prevention means shaping the present to gain advantages in the future. It is a trade in time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This can be a success or a failure, it influences the experience of time and can lead to paradoxical results. Prevention can lead to a &#8216;shrinking of the present&#8217;. And the ethical question remains: Is there a moral obligation to prevent individual behavior? Hardly, but a preventive lifestyle can contribute to a successful life. So, is prevention always a good thing? And what is the best way to cope with the unasked-for opportunity to preemptively direct your life towards the future? With irony?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Joachim-Herz Fellow 2021\/2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/hias-hamburg.de\/en\/fellow\/urban-wiesing\/\">Urban Wiesing<\/a> has invited two colleagues to discuss these questions on the basis of his book, which he wrote during his stay at HIAS:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/hias-hamburg.de\/fellow\/stefan-huster\/\">Stefan Huster<\/a>, Ruhr-Universit\u00e4t Bochum,  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/uol.de\/medizinethik\/mitarbeitende\/prof-dr-mark-schweda\">Mark Schweda<\/a>, Carl von Ossietzky Universit\u00e4t Oldenburg<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Moderation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kuhrtgesagt.com\/\">Nicola Kuhrt<\/a>, Editorial Director Research \/ Table.Media<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.frommann-holzboog.de\/reihen\/59\/590001820?lang=en-gb\">book <\/a>was published by Frommann-Holzboog in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">The discussion will be in German.
