The Handbook of Music Analysis (Handbuch Musikanalyse), published this summer by Bärenreiter, brings together 50 contributions from internationally renowned authors. Under the guiding question “What does music analysis mean in the 21st century?”, the chapters explore the growing range of methods available for the first time in the German-speaking world.
At the book presentation, the four editors will discuss the present and future of musical analysis with current HIAS Fellow Natasha Loges and provide insights into the conception and creation of the volume.
The editors of this publications:
- Ariane Jeßulat, professor for Music Theory at the Berlin University of the Arts
- Oliver Schwab-Felisch, lecturer for Music Theory at the Technical University Berlin
- Jan Philipp Sprick, professor for Music Theory and president at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg
- Christian Thorau, professor of Musicology at the University of Potsdam
Although it is a German publication, the discussion will be held in English.
