Rules shape our lives. Historian of science Lorraine Daston discusses with fellows and guests how rules have evolved and proliferated since ancient times and how essential they are to every culture, even when we chafe against them.
The discussion will be introduced and moderated by the HIAS alumna Racha Kirakosian, professor for German Medieval Studies at the University of Freiburg. Lorraine Daston’s book Rules serves as a basis.
