Conductor Lutz Rademacher has been working with orchestras and opera ensembles in German-speaking countries since 1997. His work focuses on contemporary
Music theatre and the mediation of New Music.

What is the position of contemporary music production in society? How has the visual arts managed not only to be socially recognized, but also to become a serious economic factor, while on the Donaueschingen Music Days the initiates seem to stay among themselves?
One the one hand, Lutz Rademacher aims to inform HIAS-Fellows and the public about the production conditions as well as current trends of contemporary music, on the other hand, he intends to open the discussion on its social relevance. And last but not least: What role do listening habits play? Is there such a thing as a resilience of tonality? All these questions stimulate an empiricism of hearing.

Lutz Rademacher’s collaboration partners are Ivana Rentsch, professor and head of the Institute for Historical Musicology at Universität Hamburg, and Gordon Kampe, professor for composition at Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. Together with professor Kampe, Lutz Rademacher will develop a scenic composition for the Fellows at HIAS and the interested public.
The world premiere is scheduled for June 2022.
