#Thursday Colloquium with Julia Phillips
Inspired by tools and functional objects, the sculptures of Julia Phillips are metaphors for social and psychological experiences. These metaphors are both mechanical and bodily, and the experiences they describe typically focus on power relations between individuals or between an individual and an institution. Recently the artist has started increasingly to represent the body’s inside, drawing from the fields of medicine, spirituality, as well as human reproduction. In her colloquium she will discuss the trajectory of her sculptures and her choice to move her representation of the body from the outside to the inside.
This event is addressed to fellows and their tandem partners.
