#Thursday Colloquium with Martina Lassalle
In her presentation Martina Lassalle talks about the selective functioning of courts when dealing with environmentally harmful actions and, more broadly, about how these judicial practices play a key role in the social construction of the environmental problem. In particular, she focuses on judicial responses to environmental damage caused by mining, agro-industrial and agricultural activities, as well as by the Real State and tourism industries in Argentina. Drawing on these cases, she analyzes patterns of under-criminalization and discusses the collective values and meanings that shape judicial practices, as well as how these practices relate to the broader social hierarchies and inequalities that structure the social order.
This event is addressed to fellows and their tandem partners.
