#Thursday Colloquium with Catalina Atorrasagasti
The lecture by Catalina Atorrasagasti will explore how metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) intersects with obesity and pregnancy, with a focus on disease progression and metabolic adaptation. Her talk will provide an overview of ongoing research combining experimental models and human cohorts to investigate how liver metabolism, immune regulation, and glycosylation shape disease trajectories across sex and age. Special attention will be given to pregnancy as a unique physiological window, highlighting recent findings on galectins as potential markers of metabolic dysfunction and liver involvement. The lecture will also introduce current translational projects aimed at identifying early biomarkers and therapeutic targets, emphasizing the central role of the liver in systemic metabolic health.
This event is addressed to fellows and their tandem partners.
