#Thursday Colloquium by Eva-Maria Merz
Transplant organs remain short in supply. While opt-out has been heralded as panacea for solving lack of organs, evidence shows minimal increase in deceased donations and substantive decrease in living donations compared to opt-in. This evidence comes from epidemiological studies while an explanation for this phenomenon-human decision-making for high-cost giving-must come from behavioral sciences.
In her current project Eva-Maria Merz takes a dynamic, multidisciplinary life course perspective, addressing agency, linked lives and social networks, within socio-cultural contexts. Specific attention is paid to ethical pressing topics around organ donation.
This event is addressed to HIAS Fellows and Tandem Partners.
