The St. Luke Altarpiece in Late Medieval Lübeck: Between Traditional Craftsmanship and a Changing Self-Image of Artists
Tuesday Spotlight

#Tuesday Spotlight with Anna-Selina Lakotta

The presentation identifies the Lübeck Altarpiece of St. Luke by Hermen Rode as a key object that reflects the developing artistic self-image of the Lübeck painters’ guild in the late Middle Ages. Through a detailed analysis of its formal, iconographic and material aspects, the altarpiece becomes visible as a marker of a transitional moment in the artists’ self-image in the Northern European context.

This event is addressed to fellows and their tandem partners.
