Project at HIAS

Feminist Practices of Disruptive Appropriation of Technology in Contexts of Precarious Employment and Authoritarianism

The forms of gender-based political violence against women leaders have multiplied, mainly through online platforms and social media in Latin American countries. The research focuses on women workers in precarious sectors (public services, digital platforms, care work). On the one hand, it seeks to document a range of expressions of violence—particularly those expressed through digital channels—towards trade union leaders. On the other hand, it aims to identify the modes of response and resistance developed through the link between women workers’ organisations and feminist organisations fighting for digital and labour rights and against gender-based violence. The project will explore the links between technopolitics and artistic practices to reimagine feminist futures in the world of work.
